When setting up QR codes for your venue, you have the option to create codes that do more than just direct guests to a landing page—they can also embed location information. This feature can enhance the guest experience by simplifying interactions, but it also comes with some considerations. Here's what you need to know.
What are Embedded Location QR Codes?
An embedded location QR code is a QR code that not only directs guests to a landing page but also tells the system exactly where they are. This eliminates the need for the system, or your staff, to ask the guest where they are located. Without location embedded in the QR code, the system would have to clarify where the guest is before service can be provided. With the location embedded, this step is unnecessary, streamlining the process and allowing services to be delivered more efficiently.
Advantages of Embedded Location QR Codes
- Seamless Experience: Guests don’t need to input their location, making the process smoother and quicker.
- Accuracy: Ensures that the service or request is accurately tied to the guest's specific location, reducing errors or misunderstandings.
Disadvantages of Embedded Location QR Codes
- Management Complexity: Each location-specific QR code adds to the number of codes you need to create, print, and manage, which can become cumbersome, especially in larger venues.
General Guideline
Use General Landing Page QR Codes:
- When guests can easily tell you where they are, such as in a hotel room or a clearly marked area.
- When the item the QR code is printed on may get moved around or needs to be produced in large quantities.
- When the QR code is likely to be easily lost or become damaged, requiring frequent replacement.
Use Embedded Location QR Codes:
- When guests are less likely to know or refer to their specific location, such as at individual tables in a restaurant where they might not know how you refer to your tables.
By considering the guest experience and the ease of managing QR codes, you can decide the best approach for your venue, ensuring that the system is both efficient and user-friendly.
